A Girl's Dream

I had a dream

To travel around the world,

To hold the celestial moon

To rejoice in wonder.

I walked through it

I worked through it

I lived through it

I loved through it.

My dream was not approved

By anyone.

Neither the ones who were dearly

Nor the one who was my enemy.

They thought a girl like me

Never had the right to dream.

They thought a girl like me

Should only obey without a scream.

But I was stubborn

To follow my dream

Without any fail

Without any fright.

I fought those norms

Of the society

Which were meant to restrict

The freedom of a girl.

A girl is also a human being

Just like you all

Don’t harm her with

Your patriarchal clutches.

Let her dream of her own life

Let her live with full of pride

Let her make a mark in this world

Let her be free to do what she like.

Once and for all

Let us stop this divide

Let she dream

And conquer the skies.
